Neil Armstrong, the first man to walk in the Moon, has passed away at the age of 82. The legendary U.S. astronaut died from complications of his heart after he was operated this month. He made history on July 20, 1969 as commander of the Apollo 11 Moon-landing mission. When he arrived in the Moon's surface, he famously spoke the words: "That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind." He was 38 at the time of his historic walk and instantly became one of the most famous people on the planet.
Armstrong was born in 1930 and grew up fascinated with flying after taking a plane at the age of 6. He began making model planes and collecting books and magazines on aviation. As a teenager, he got his pilot's license before his driving license. In 1949, he became a Navy pilot, and flew combat missions in the Korean War. In 1958, he joined the organization that became NASA and became a test pilot.  When a reporter asked him about the Moon, he said: "It's an interesting place to be. I recommend it."

Pop diva Lady Gaga launched her “Born This Way Foundation” (BTWF) at Harvard University on February 29. She told reporters the goal of the foundation is to empower youth, inspire bravery, increase tolerance of others and stop bullying. The singer told her audience that she hoped to use her fame to change the world for the better. She said: “If you have revolutionary potential, you must make the world a better place and use it….This is about transformative change in culture.”
Lady Gaga arrived at Harvard with her mother, and her friend Oprah Winfrey. She signed autographs for students and posed for photos. The Harvard event was the first of a series of initiatives for the foundation. The Born Brave Bus was at the university and will travel around America to encourage young people to participate more in their communities. The bus will also accompany Lady Gaga's next concert tour in the U.S. Gaga hopes her foundation will also help gay and lesbian youth. It is named after her global hit song “Born This Way” and has been adopted as an unofficial anthem for lesbians and gays. Lady Gaga has contributed $1.2 million of her own money to the BTWF.
